A portion of Route 139 (North Branford Road) between School Ground Road and Route One was shut down shortly after 7 a.m. this morning after police responded to a report of an accident involving a car and a tractor trailer hauling a large slab of pre-formed concrete.

Branford Police Captain Geoffrey Morgan reported via Twitter that the roadway was closed until 7:45 a.m. while police responded to the accident.

A photo posted by Morgan shows a sedan with a severe damage to the front and driver's side. Morgan reported the driver had minor injuries.
