StoryWalk Events Happening This Month!
Two StoryWalks are available during the month of May in North Haven!
Celebrating One Town, One Book: READING IS YOUR GOLDEN TICKET. A StoryWalk® is a fun, educational activity that places a children’s story along a popular walking route in your community. Conceived as a way to inspire parents, teachers, and caregivers to take young children out of doors for physical activity and to learn, StoryWalk® helps build children’s interest in reading while encouraging healthy activity for both adults and children.
On the North Haven Town Green, follow the story Mercedes and the Chocolate Pilot by Margot Theis Raven. This is the true story of a young German girl, Mercedes Simon, and of the American pilot, Gail Halvorsen, who shared hope and joy with the children of West Berlin by dropping candy-filled parachutes during the Airlift. At Peter's Rock, the featured book is Todd's TV by James Proimos. When Todd's parents are too busy to take care of him, his television steps in to handle the parenting. Funding for the Story Walks has been provided by the Connecticut Humanities Council, Flanagan Associates, and Dan Riccio, American Legion Post 76.
