Two people are listed in critical condition after the vehicle they were traveling in rolled over on Hartford Turnpike at 11:30 a.m.

North Haven Police and Fire personnel were called to the scene of a one-car motor vehicle accident. The caller stated a vehicle had rolled over, and a man was trapped under the vehicle.

Investigators learned that the operator of the vehicle had pulled to the side of the road due to engine problems. One of the three occupants exited the vehicle. For unknown reasons, the vehicle then sped in reverse, crossed the road striking a barrier, and rolled over. The driver was partially ejected and trapped under the vehicle.

The driver and one occupant were transported to an area hospital and are listed in critical condition.

Hartford Turnpike between Upper State Street and Leighton Court will be closed while police investigate.
