Noreen Theresa (Dunphy) Braza, age 84, of Clinton entered into eternal rest on July 27. Born on Nov. 11, 1933, in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd T. and Mildred (Joyce) Dunphy.
She grew up with her older brother Sonny and attended Catholic schools. Through her brother, she met her late husband of 60 years, Edward P. Braza, Sr. In 1966, the family moved to Clinton where Noreen became a realtor; she also became a member of the Democratic Town Committee, and loved to sing with the Clinton Choral Club.
In her retirement years, Noreen learned to play the piano and tried clogging, Irish dancing. She also adored her “ferocious” dog Poopsie, a lovable Chihuahua. She and her husband traveled extensively, visiting Ireland, Italy, France, Spain, and Mexico, and cruised the Caribbean. Her fondest memories were of the summers in Jamestown, Rhode Island, with her family, and eating clam cakes. If you asked Noreen what her favorite pastime was, it would be playing the slots in Atlantic City and at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.
Noreen is the cherished mother of Edward “Ted” P. (Julene) Braza, Jr., of Westbrook and the late Noreen Deborah Braza. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Kevin (Shelley) Braza of Westbrook and Kelly Braza and her dog Lilo of Old Saybrook; and one great-grandchild, Kyle Braza of Westbrook.
The wake was held Aug. 1 at the Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton. The family will have a private graveside service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Carl Swan at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at hamdenmemorialfuneralhome.com.
