Lisa M. (Gioia) Wambolt, 69, North Haven
Lisa M. (Gioia) Wambolt, 69, of North Haven, died on March 3. She was the beloved wife of over 50 years to James H. Wambolt. Lisa was born in Middletown on Dec. 21, 1943, daughter of the late Joseph and Irene Gioia. She had been employed at the Hospital of St. Raphael for 35 years.
Lisa was a former member of the Jolly Timers and Ridge Road Seniors. She was in the North Haven Ceramics and also enjoyed a lot of time with her Red Hat Groups, the Ever Reddy Hatters of East Haven and the Branford Scarlett O’Hattas.
Her family thanks the Father McGivney Cancer Center for all their caring and help through this difficult time.
Besides her husband, Lisa is survived by two loving sons, Dustin Christopher Wambolt and his wife Sandy Rabis of North Branford and James Vincent Wambolt and his wife Lisa of Valencia, California; two cherished grandchildren, Marisa Renee and Riley Wambolt of Valencia, California; a brother, Richard T. Gioia of East Haven; and three sisters Nancy DiMeola and her husband Rick Kross of Madison, Linda Basserman of East Haven, and Virginia Velardi and her husband Joseph of West Haven. She is also survived by many nieces, a nephew, and friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Jo Ann Proto; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Faulkner and Ragee Ann Gioia; and two brothers-in-law, Frederick Basserman and John DiMeola.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Thursday, March 7, at 9:15 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 10 a.m., followed by burial in All Saints Cemetery.
