Eileen is at the same time repellent and darkly compelling. I couldn’t put it down. It follows a week in the life of Eileen, an uptight and mentally unstable woman working at a boy’s correctional facility in the 1960s. It begins as a disturbing yet fascinating character study (amazingly crafted by the author) and culminates in an earth-shattering twist you won’t see coming.
