Reporter’s Notebook: Updates from Madison
Salt Meadow Park Improvements Planned
Beach & Rec Director Scot Erskine said that the town is in the process of installing a picnic pavilion with restrooms at Salt Meadow Park. Project funds have been designated, he told The Source. Though the structure is pre-fabricated purchased from a company in Texas, the town is currently looking for local builders to assemble it as well as install a septic system, which makes a construction timeline uncertain. The Source will have more on this story as it develops.
BOS Going Live
First Selectman Peggy Lyons said she anticipates a “trial period” of live-streaming Board of Selectmen meetings beginning in February or March. Though technical details are still being worked out, Lyons told The Source she hopes to allow citizens to ask questions or make public comments during the meeting from their computers or other devices. The Source will provide more details on this program as they become available.
Changes Downtown
Town Planner Dave Anderson said there is a new developer taking over the development of a property known as the General’s Residence. Local business owner Bill Plunkett had been approved by the Planning & Zoning Commission to construct nine condominiums on the 2.5 acre property fronting 908 Boston Post Road. Anderson said though that project remains approved, the new owners of the property “are intending to come back and modify some aspects of that approval.” Any modifications will require another approval and a public hearing process, according to Anderson. The Source will continue to follow this story as it develops.
