2024 ‘Snuggles for Seniors’ Blanket Drive Underway in Branford
After putting a great idea into action last November, and collecting 128 new blankets in a very short time to give as holiday gifts to local seniors, Branford resident and past Person of the Week Amy Rosen hopes to help give many more the comfort and warmth of a new blanket this holiday season.
To that end, Rosen has organized and kicked off the second annual Snuggles for Shoreline Seniors, and it would warm her heart to see even more donated new blankets pile up this time around. Rosen, who has set a goal of collecting 200 blankets this year, is pleased to announce the number of collection locations in town has doubled for the 2024 drive.
Returning collection partner sites are Coastal Wine and Spirits, 103 North Main Street; James Blackstone Memorial Library, 758 Main Street; and Eli's on the Hill, 624 West Main Street; as well as new collection sites at Lockworks Tavern, 212 Main Street; The Stand, 196 South Montowese Street; and Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library, 146 Thimble Island Road in Stony Creek.
Donations of new, unwrapped, cozy and comfy blankets are being collected now through Sunday, Dec. 15 at all locations.
Rosen is coordinating delivery of the blankets to Branford seniors in December, including those which will be delivered with assistance from Branford-based Community Dining Room’s home delivery service program.
