Anne M. Sweeney
Anne M. Sweeney of Madison passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Nov. 6, 2024, after a long, courageous battle with Dementia.
Anne was born in White Plains, New York, on Jan. 15, 1939, the daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Solan) Logue. Beloved wife and best friend for over 63 years to William Sweeney Sr., mother of William Jr. (Janet), Catherine (Sweeney) McMahon (David), and Patricia (Sweeney) Kuehne; and grandmother to Ryan and Megan Sweeney, Robert Kuehne, and Jessica McMahon. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Maher and Ann Sweeney, as well as many nieces and nephews who all loved her. She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Donald Maher and Thomas Sweeney, MD, and sister-in-law, Frances Rife.
Anne graduated from St. Johns' in White Plains, New York, and from St. Raphael School of Nursing Class of 1960. Anne and Bill moved to Guilford in 1962 to start their family, where she devoted her time to attending almost all functions that her children were involved in during their school years, including all sports activities. She was our biggest cheerleader!
Anne worked at West Lake Lodge Nursing Home in Guilford as an RN staff nurse for many years. She and Bill moved to Florida, where she was staff nurse coordinator and director of nursing at the Court of Palm-Aire Nursing Home for several years before she fully retired. In her retirement, she enjoyed playing golf and attending many social functions with a wide variety of good friends throughout the 32-plus years during the winter months. In 1998, they split their time between Florida and Madison. Five years ago, they moved back to Madison full-time to be closer to family.
Another star was added to the sky Nov. 6, 2024. At night, when you look up and see her shining, know she is smiling back at you. You will forever be in our hearts. We love you!
