Sheryl Lawrie
Sheryl held several titles in her lifetime, from hairdresser to volunteer ambulance personnel to facility coordinator, but her favorite role was being a mother. Sheryl was born in Providence, Rhode Island, on Dec. 15, 1955. Her parents, Carmine “Tom” and Marie Iannuccilli, raised her and her siblings, Deborah and David, in Johnston, Rhode Island.
She then went on to graduate from Johnston High School in 1974, followed by Joan’s School of Beauty for her hairdressing license. Sheryl met Mark Lawrie Jr. in 1977 when a college friend introduced them and Mark got a fantastic haircut from her, and the rest is history. Sheryl and Mark married in 1978 at Our Lady Grace in Johnston, Rhode Island. They then moved to Westbrook, where they purchased a home and raised their three children.
Sheryl volunteered for Westbrook Ambulance, then started out working as a receptionist at the Middlesex Health Shoreline Medical Center, where she eventually became Facility Coordinator, where she proudly worked for 40 years. Sheryl retired from Middlesex in 2020. She was able to travel to Montana for three summers and enjoyed every minute of it. Sheryl was able to enjoy seven trips to Yellowstone National Park, as well as horseback riding, rafting, and camping. Sheryl was also able to enjoy many concerts with her family.
Sheryl had been battling leukemia for almost nine months and lost her fight on Oct. 9, 2024, an earth-shattering day for so many. We know now her suffering is over, and she can rest in eternal peace. Sheryl leaves behind her loving husband of 46 years, Mark Lawrie Jr.; her pride and joy; her three children, Mark III (Heather Boynton), Robert (Deserea Loucks), and Abigail; her brother, David; and her sister, Deborah. Sheryl is predeceased by her parents, Carmine and Marie Iannuccilli.
