Public safety is something that is very important to my family and me. That is why I am happy we have Devin Carney as our State Representative. Devin has always been on the side of first responders and understands how valuable they are in our community, particularly volunteers.

This past term, Devin proposed and co-sponsored several bills that would improve public safety and also make it easier for families when tragedy strikes. Currently, Connecticut is not where it should be in terms of the number of state police officers on the force. Devin proposed increasing funding for training and has always worked to increase retention and recruitment efforts.

He proposed legislation to provide income tax deductions for volunteer fire and EMS. Old Saybrook relies on our amazing volunteers, and they deserve recognition. Devin also co-sponsored legislation to establish a Fallen Officer Fund that would provide assistance to those whose loved one was killed in the line of duty.

Devin is someone who appreciates everything our first responders do and has backed his commitment with legislation. This is just one additional reason to support Devin Carney for reelection this year.
