State Representative John-Michael Parker exemplifies dedication, tireless hard work, and capability in his commitment to his constituents throughout the 101st District, which includes Madison and Durham. Throughout his campaign, he takes the time to knock on doors via his trusty bicycle, genuinely asking residents how they are doing and listening attentively to their concerns. With a clear and thoughtful approach, he answers their questions directly, ensuring his constituents understand where he stands on the issues. In the Connecticut State Legislature, Rep. Parker consistently works across party lines, serving as vice chair of the Public Health Committee and serving on the Environment and Government Administration and Elections committees. He also co-chairs the Future Caucus, crafting policies for future generations.
Rep. Parker prioritizes children’s mental health, juvenile justice reform, environmental sustainability, and protecting women’s reproductive rights. His legislative actions include securing $2 million to expand Shore Line East service, improving nursing home care, and advancing safe and secure elections. He is also committed to reducing gun violence through sensible legislation.
JMP has secured millions in state funding for projects across the district, including $500,000 for a Madison emergency generator, $4 million for the Academy Community Center, and funding for other local initiatives. He has supported budgets that cut over $650 million in taxes, introducing property tax cuts and a child tax credit.
Rep. Parker’s work extends to protecting seniors, backing legislation that limits nursing homes to two patients per room, and streamlines access to critical care information. He also was instrumental in securing funds for a generator for seniors and disabled residents of the Concord Meadows Housing.
