I write in support of Paul Crisci and Linda Dean for election this November. I have worked with various Republican candidates over the years and can attest to the candor and commitment of these two leaders. Connecticut is faced with challenges that need to be addressed with a new vision. The myopia of our current One-Party governance leads us to a crisis in the areas of affordability, education, public safety and energy oversight. There is an immediate need for a “common sense” government in this State .
As a sanctuary state, we incur the direct and indirect cost of providing services to 254,243 foreign born non-citizens (as of 2022). Currently, demands placed upon the State’s resources for: healthcare, education, public safety, housing, energy, transportation, etc., make Connecticut less and less affordable. This results in the migration of our older population and a deterioration in our quality of life. In a 2/15/24 NPR article about New York City’s migrant population (covering at that time 175,000 people), Mayor Adams was quoted as saying: “this issue will destroy New York City”. In a Forbes article dated 8/9/23, Mayor Adams estimated NYC would spend $4.7 billion in 2023 and another $7 billion over the course of the next 3 years to support the costs associated with this segment of their population. The numbers are not yet as dramatic in Connecticut, but we are similarly impacted due to the demands placed on our housing, education and healthcare, primarily in our urban areas.
Our current State Senator, State Representative and for that matter Congressman and Senator have led us to the point of an unrecognized sanctuary state crisis. This impacts all aspects of our quality of life. I support voting for change in government in Connecticut this November!
