Branford Police Pursuit leads to Arrest following Evading Head-On Collision

On May 27 at 7:32 p.m. Branford Police received a complaint of an erratic operator traveling eastbound on East Main Street.
The vehicle was reported to have gone up on a curb and to have crossed into oncoming traffic. The operator traveled on the wrong side of the road under the I-95 Exit 55 overpass and struck a vehicle head-on. The operator then evaded the scene of the accident and engaged the officer in pursuit.
The operator was stopped by Business Park Dr and was identified as Paul G. Raffone. Raffone failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. The operator of the vehicle struck by Raffone sustained minor injury and refused further treatment on scene.
Paul G. Raffone, age 52, of North Branford was charged with Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs – 14-227a; Engaging Police in Pursuit, 14-223(b)**; Evading Responsibility, 14-224(b)(3); Operating under suspension, 14-215; Driving the wrong way on a divided highway, 14-237; and Failure to drive in proper lane, 14-236.
