Boys’ Lacrosse
On May 3, Old Saybrook boys’ lacrosse traveled to North Branford, where the Thunderbirds played some great lacrosse. The Rams, down a few key players, played hard but lost in the end 19-5.
On May 7, the team hit the road to Haddam-Killingworth and won a tight game 12-11. Old Saybrook jumped out to an early lead and held it to the fourth quarter. Rams goalie Cole Lawson had a fantastic game, making hard-earned saves and providing a strong clearing game pushing the ball out of the Rams’ defensive zone. Defenders Ethan Lane, Ngwang Choeygal, and Will Maselli did an excellent job holding off the potent H-K offense.
Both teams played well in the fourth quarter, with the lead changing several times. At the end of the regular time, the teams stood tied 11-11. In overtime, the Rams lost the opening face off but caused a turnover and moved the ball down to the offense, finding Liam Roberts, who shot and scored the winning goal.
“This was an important game for the Rams,” said Head Coach Jon Mason. “The winner of this game would take the No. 1 rank in the Shoreline Conference. I am very proud of this team - everyone came together and made this a true team win.”
