Press Release, Branford Rotary Club
During meetings of the Branford Rotary Club, the organization has been honoring Branford High School (BHS) Class of 2023 “Service Above Self” scholarship recipients who are now attending college.
Applications are currently open for Branford Rotary’s 2024 “Service Above Self” scholarships for high school seniors who live in Branford and will be graduating this year. Three scholarships of $3,000 each are to be awarded. Entry forms are on the Rotary Club website, branfordrotary.org (beneath the tab for “Awards and Scholarships”). Application entry deadline is Saturday, May 4. Further information can be found on the website
Branford Rotary most recently recognized Lauren McCarthy, one of last year’s three recipients the club’s Service Above Self scholarship program. She is now attending the School of Engineering at the University of Delaware. McCarthy chose to attend this university for its “Engineers Without Borders” traveling program. She aspires to develop both the creative and technical skills of her future profession.
The scholarship panel was impressed with McCarthy’s passion for providing a service to the world community, to help make better places and environments through her professional training.
Also receiving scholarship awards last year were Aurelia Keberle of the New Haven STEM Magnet School, now attending Yale University; and Nicholas Schettino of Branford High School, now attending Southern Connecticut State University.
