Jonathan R. Boughton Inaugural Scholarship Event Raises $24K at Branford Cue and Brew
Press Release from Jonathan R. Boughton Scholarship Corporation
The Jonathan R. Boughton Scholarship Corporation (JRBSC) held a very successful inaugural public fundraiser at Branford Cue & Brew. Over 100 people, along with 24 sponsors, assisted the JRBSC in raising $24,000 dollars and raffling off over $6,000 in prizes. The event was hosted by Branford Cue & Brew with entertainment provided by Josh the Music Man.
The October 2023 event was the first fundraiser to be organized and held since the inception of the scholarship corporation.
The scholarship was formed shortly after the death of Jonathan “Jonny” R. Boughton, son of the Boughton family of North Branford. He was a student at Eli Whitney Technical High School and was an automotive technical prodigy.
After their son’s passing in 2021, Stephanie and Edward Boughton established a Go Fund Me page to raise money for Eli Whitney students and other gifted technical students. The page received over $50,000 in donations. Next, they founded the JRBSC organization. To date, the JRBSC fund has awarded more than $15,000 in scholarships and has helped tech school startups in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Boughton family is grateful to Branford Cue & Brew owner and North Branford resident and family friend Joe DeLuca, along with his staff, for the generous support given to the inaugural Jonathan R. Boughton Scholarship Fundraiser event. The family also thanks all of those who contributed and attended this successful event.
