John Sowers Pfarr
John Sowers Pfarr, 83, died on Jan. 28, 2024, while vacationing in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was born on Feb. 12, 1940, in Ashland, Kentucky, to Susan E. Pfarr and John S. Pfarr.
Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Jackie Michael and Diana Sanzone. His survivors include his former wife, Laura Hastings of Denver, Colorado; son, John Pfarr of Silverthorne, Colorado; daughter, Maria Pfarr Williams of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn Pfarr, Jackson Williams, and Reagan Williams. Also surviving him are his second wife, Karen Griffin and his third wife, Ellen Hackett Pfarr of Essex and her extended family, with whom John became an integral part. He also leaves to grieve his companion, Nancy Leasure of Danville, California.
A graduate of Harvard University in his undergraduate years and of the University of Michigan Law School, John established himself as a notable Estate Planning Attorney using his considerable creativity to assist his many clients in ensuring their plans and wishes would be carried out. He was a man of great vision and a sense of adventure and lived life to the fullest.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Essex, CT.
