Joseph DePino
Joseph Peter “Joe” DePino, 84, husband of Nancy DePino, passed away on Jan. 2, 2024, at Conway Medical Center in Conway, South Carolina, following a long illness. Born May 4, 1939, in New Haven, Joe was the son of the late John and Helen DePino.
He grew up in Fair Haven and graduated from Wilbur Cross High School. Joe proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. Following his service, he spent many years living in the Morris Cove area of New Haven, where he raised his family.
He held many jobs throughout his career in the HVAC industry. Before retirement, he was a mechanical project engineer with the Thornton Tomasetti Group. Joe was renowned by friends and family as a jack-of-all-trades and was passionate about tackling residential projects ranging from home construction, masonry, carpentry, roofing, plumbing, and electrical. He was an avid patron of restaurants and always treated his family and friends to his favorite spots. He also enjoyed attending his grandson’s hockey games and tennis matches over the years. After retirement, he moved from Wallingford to South Carolina. In his free time, Joe played golf occasionally, followed national and local politics, and watched numerous sporting events with his little dog, Miley, nestled in his lap.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Nancy DePino; his children, Robin DePino and John DePino; his grandson Andrew Amarone; his sister Margie Cooke (Robert); his stepchildren, Kimberly Carlin (Carol Sipos) and Christopher Carlin; and his sister-in-law Laura Opalski (Joseph); along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his stepson Scott Carlin.
