H-K Football Earns Shutout Victory, Boys’ Soccer Narrowly Falls in Conference Semis

On Nov. 3, H-K football traveled to Coventry/Windham Tech/Bolton/Lyman and won 34-0. The Cougars had five different players score touchdowns in the contest. Bryce Lacoss ran for one touchdown and threw for two more, while Spencer Savoy reeled off a 72-yard interception return for another score.
The other touchdowns were recorded by Josh Frith on a five-yard run, Scott Hosney on an 18-yard reception, and Jamien Evans on a five-yard reception. Axel Kolcio added four extra points in his first varsity action.
“The kids played excellent defense and the offense was balanced tonight,” said H-K Head Coach Tyler Wilcox following the game. “We did what we needed to do to win by a decisive score. We still have things we need to clean up, but the kids worked hard this week and earned the victory.”
Boys’ Soccer
In the quarterfinal round of the Shoreline Conference Tournament on Oct. 28, No. 3 H-K boys’ soccer defeated No. 6 Cromwell by a score of 6-0.
In the semifinals on Nov. 1, the Cougars faced No. 2 East Hampton and fell in a game decided by penalty kicks (5-4).
Girls’ Soccer
H-K girls’ soccer entered the Shoreline Conference Tournament as the No. 4 seed. In the quarterfinals on Oct. 28, the team faced No. 5 Portland and fell 2-1.
Field Hockey
On Oct. 30, H-K field hockey played in the semifinals of the Shoreline Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed. They faced No. 2 Old Saybrook and were defeated by a score of 1-0 in overtime.
Girls’ Volleyball
Cougars girls’ volleyball entered the Shoreline Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed. In the quarterfinals on Oct. 30, the team faced No. 6 Lyme-Old Lyme and won 3-0.
In the semifinal round on Nov. 1, H-K faced off against No. 2 Valley Regional and fell 3-0.
