Morgan Boys’ Soccer Wins Two Straight, While Football Has a Tough Week

Morgan-Old Saybrook-Westbrook football hosted SMSA Co-op on Oct. 6, losing 52-22.
Boys’ Soccer
Morgan boys’ soccer traveled to Haddam-Killingworth on Oct. 2 and won 3-0. Goal scorers for the Huskies included Jonny Gutierrez (assisted by Cinar Yucel) and Jeremy Medranda-Bermeo, also assisted by Yucel. Jack Bousquet recorded six saves in net, while Luke Mauri recorded five.
On Oct. 5, the Huskies hosted Portland and won 1-0. Medranda scored the lone goal, assisted by Gavin Baptista. Bousquet recorded two saves, while Erik Medvecky recorded eight.
The boys ended the week with a 4-1 road loss at East Lyme on Oct. 6.
Girls’ Soccer
On Oct. 3, Morgan girls’ soccer hosted Haddam-Killingworth and won 3-0.
Two days later, the team traveled to Westbrook and won 6-0. Goal scorers for Morgan were Glenda Zhiminaicella (2), Lili Luciani, Olivia Ruotolo, Sadie Passante, and Maeve Madura. Goalkeeper Sam Way recorded one save.
On Oct. 6, the Huskies hit the road to Portland and won 2-1. Rachel Spaziano recorded both scores for Morgan, with assists coming from Madura and Passante. Way had three saves in net.
Field Hockey
The Morgan field hockey team traveled to Valley Regional on Oct. 2 and lost 4-0. Then, on Oct. 4, the team hosted Wethersfield and fell 6-0 before losing 6-0 at Haddam-Killingworth on Oct. 6.
Girls’ Volleyball
Morgan girls’ volleyball hosted Old Lyme on Oct. 2, losing 3-0. Two days later, the team played host to North Branford and lost 3-0. On
Oct. 6, the Huskies traveled to Valley Regional and took a 3-0 deficit.
