House GOP Leader Candelora Responds to Brazen, Broad Daylight Crime in North Branford
Press Release, CT General Assembly
Oct. 8, 2023: House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora (R-North Branford) released the following statement in response to a news release from North Branford Police asking for the public's assistance in providing information about a crime that saw a homeowner fired upon after interrupting individuals attempting to steal a vehicle from his driveway today shortly before 11 a.m.:
“The sad and frustrating reality is that this type of frightening crime is rapidly becoming the new normal in Connecticut. It’s like a Mad Max movie—criminals have no fear, roving our streets in broad daylight, in packs, leaving a trail of victims who get little to no sympathy from Democrats in the legislature who refuse to acknowledge the severity of the state’s crime crisis. The trajectory of this situation will grow worse unless majority party Democrats and Governor Lamont, in a very public and sustained effort, shift their focus from coddling criminals and closing prisons to developing policies focused on deterrence and punishment.”
