Would Love to Continue to Serve the Community
My name is Jen Voegtli, and I am running for a seat on the Haddam-Killingworth Board of Education. As I ask for your vote on Nov. 7, I would like to tell you something about myself.
I have an undergraduate degree in chemistry with a minor in Biochemistry and a graduate degree in molecular biology. My husband Walt and I moved to Killingworth from Colorado over nine years ago. We have two children, Wyatt and Owen, who will be entering ninth and seventh grade in the fall.
As a product of the public school system myself, high-quality public education in Regional School District 17 (RSD17) was the major factor in choosing to raise our family in Killingworth, as well as the excellence of the services this district provides.
I have been very active in Killingworth Elementary School (KES), Haddam-Killingworth Intermediate School (HKIS), and Haddam-Killingworth Middle School (HKMS) since my oldest started kindergarten, and hope to be able to volunteer when needed at HKHS. I was a substitute teacher at KES and HKIS, a room parent many times at KES, highly involved with the PTO as Secretary Treasurer and several committees, and was honored with the Sargent Dingwall Award for Community Service at HKMS this spring.
I would love to continue to serve our community as a BOE member. It will provide me an even greater opportunity to work with teachers, administrators, parents, and the community on the best ways forward to provide our children with an excellent, well-rounded education and to improve on and grow the systems we currently have in place.
I am running on the Democratic line, Row A.
