Conduct Evaluations
Current staffing shortages at the Old Saybrook Police Department might be the tip of the iceberg. Offering bonuses and increasing salaries is premature. The taxpayers of Old Saybrook, for several years, have requested an evaluation of Chief of Police Michael Spera along with the evaluation of the Old Saybrook Police Department to no avail. The purpose of these evaluations is to identify the department’s strengths, weaknesses, and issues. Data obtained from evaluations generates a review of the department’s procedures and policies and offers solutions to problems. The Old Saybrook Police Commission needs to conduct these evaluations before offering bonuses and salary increases.
