Lucille Thomas Hines
Lucille Thomas Hines, beloved wife of 57 years of the late Harry M. Hines, passed away peacefully at Connecticut Hospice in the early morning hours of Aug. 19, 2023, surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born in New Haven to Ralph and Anna Thomas on June 5, 1933. Born to be a mom, Lucille leaves behind her five daughters and their families. She was an incredible role model to Linda Zunda, Laura Fucci (Bob), Lisa Brennan (Jay), Leslie Bravato (Steve), and Leigh Hines (Walter Pierson); mother-in-law of Stanley Zunda; grandmother of Jennifer Zunda (Bob Nicolella), Maddie Fucci, Sienna Fucci, Jay Brennan (Melissa), Ryan Brennan, Andrew Bravato, and Julianna Bravato; and great-granddaughter Hailey Nicolella. She is survived by her brother Pat Thomas (Rosa); her sixth “daughter” and niece, Marcie Scalia; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Roy and Rosemary Petrosemolo (Eddy); as well as brother-in-law Butch Hines. She was predeceased by her brothers, Gregory Fuimara and Marshall Thomas; as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law from the Hines family. She also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews; and many, many wonderful friends.
Lucille graduated from West Haven High School in 1951. She attended Stone Business School and was a secretary at Armstrong prior to having her girls. A very proud and very busy stay-at-home mom, she returned to work in the town of North Haven Assessors’ Office after her daughters had grown. She worked there until her retirement. She had many loves in her life: first and foremost, her family coming together for celebrations all throughout the year. She was a great cook and enjoyed creating wonderful meals for family and friends. She loved spending special time with her grandchildren, being at the beach in Rhode Island, playing cards with her great neighbors in her “She Shed,” being with her wonderful Quail Run family, and simply being with people for whom she cared.
