Daniel Hand High School Athletics Announces New Coaches
The Daniel Hand High School Athletics Department is pleased to announce the appointment of three new coaches for the upcoming year: Head Varsity Coach Dante Tomassini (boys’ ice hockey), Head Varsity Coach Mike Shirley (boys’ soccer) and Head Varsity Coach Jennifer Aguzzi (girls’ volleyball). All three coaches were selected following a collaborative interview process that relied on input from numerous stakeholder groups including parents, student-athletes, administrators, teachers and coaches.
The coaches come into their respective positions with a wealth of knowledge and a passion for fostering success. Coach Dante Tomassini is a former collegiate ice hockey player and honed his coaching skills as a collegiate coach at his alma mater. Coach Mike Shirley is an alumnus of Daniel Hand and has previously served as an assistant coach in the boys’ soccer program. Coach Jennifer Aguzzi, a current member of the Daniel Hand teaching staff, has years of coaching experience and a track record of building positive team environments that allow all student-athletes to thrive.
Director of Athletics Chris Farrell said he is thrilled with the new coaching appointments, and looks forward to a year of growth and success for all teams.
“All of our coaches will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our programs and help our student-athletes reach their maximum potential,” Farrell said. “They understand the importance of building positive, cohesive, and competitive teams that align with our overall athletic culture. We are excited to welcome them into our Tiger athletic family.”
