Bill was born in Manhattan on Nov. 22, 1933, son of the late Hugo and Sophie Schultz of Germany, and grew up in Forest Hills, New York. As a young man, he learned the trade of house painting and paper hanging from his father and became the owner of a successful painting business. He met a young Scottish woman, Catherine “Katie” Weldon, at a local diner and began a courtship. They were married in Queens, New York, in 1957. In 1976, they purchased a summer cottage on Lake Quonnipaug. Bill and Katie loved the country life so much that they moved their family to North Guilford permanently in 1978, and Bill started a new career painting submarines at Electric Boat.
Once retired, he filled his time with projects around the house, helping family and friends with their projects, and studying the stock market. He also had a passion for collecting and organizing unusual items. Services will be private.
