James Carangelo
James “Jimmy” Carangelo, 56, of East Haven, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 11. He was born Feb. 5, 1967, in New Haven, to Andrew and Claudia (Bailey) Carangelo of East Haven. James is survived by his loving parents; and two daughters, Lea Carangelo and Alysa Carangelo, both of East Haven, along with many uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his brother David Carangelo (1997); maternal grandparents Claude Sr. and Frances (Wetherbee) Bailey; and paternal grandparents Andrew and Theresa (Russo) Carangelo.
James graduated from East Haven High School and attended and taught at Eli Whitney Technical High School. He also graduated from Technical Careers Institute in West Haven, where he achieved his certification in H/VAC, sheet metal, and plumbing. James lived his life willing to help others in need, educating them in the process. He found comfort and love in his family, close friends, and the family’s dog, Benji, his buddy. James enjoyed being outdoors — fishing, crabbing, hunting, drawing, and working on vehicles.
He will now be at peace with his younger brother David. His death will leave a long-lasting impact on those who loved him. It will take time, but we will all heal from this tragedy.
Family received friends on July 18 in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. His funeral procession left the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a Mass of Christian burial in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven. Burial followed at East Lawn Cemetery, where he was laid at rest with his brother.
