Maureen (Curry) Perkins
On July 13, Maureen (Curry) Perkins, a longtime resident of Guilford, passed away peacefully at her home. She was the wife of the late Edward Perkins Sr. Maureen was born in New Haven on July 30, 1933, daughter of Leroy and Hazel Curry.
She is survived by her son Skip (Edward Jr.) Perkins and his partner Zoe Rice; daughter Lori (Ralph) Stanizzi; grandchildren Nicole (Louis) Rivera, Evan Harris, Derek Perkins, and Cori Zuppardi; also great-grandchildren: Lorin, Marcel, Dyson, Charlotte, Marchesa, and Dante. She is also survived by her loving sister-in-law Linda Curry. She was predeceased by sisters Mildred, Hazel, and Delores; and brothers: Roy, Robert, Edward, George, and Jack.
Maureen enjoyed being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a consummate homemaker and baker and enjoyed crocheting and knitting as well. Her apple pies and almond twists will be sorely missed. In her final years, she enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife in her beautiful yard.
We want to give special thanks to her niece Kathleen Burr, who spent the last five years by Mom’s side and years previously at Dad’s side, giving them loving care. Also, thanks to Candy Simons for the care and love she gave to Mom as well.
Arrangements will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, 749 E. Main Street, Branford, CT 06405; https://www.branford-ct.gov/departments/animal-shelter or the VFW Post#7666, PO Box 173, Guilford, CT 06437.
