19U Clinton Huskies Baseball on Strong Midseason Run
After a sluggish start to the summer season in which the 19U Clinton Huskies summer baseball team went 0-3-1, the boys have been on a run lately. They have won four of the last six games with a tie.
The Huskies are made up of boys from Clinton, Haddam and Killingworth, and stand at 4-4-2 at the halfway point of the season in the East Shore Travel Baseball League. The athletes have certainly shed off some of the early season rust.
Lucas Kamoen and Bryan Higgins each have two wins on the mound, while Brady Fritz and Ryan Donadio have recorded the two ties. Many other players have given the team valuable innings on the bump.
The recent dominant stretch included big wins against the Technique Tigers (4-3), the New England Knights (7-3 and 12-1) and the Connecticut Hanks Yanks (6-3).
A great mix of younger players from Morgan and the returning veterans, many of whom haven’t played baseball since last summer, has proved to provide the chemistry needed to get the team on a roll.
At the plate, Kamoen, Dom Carpenter (the inspirational leader for the Huskies), Caden Civiello, Declan Christopher, Fritz, EJ Quint, Tyler Greenhouse, Louis Mendez, Donadio, Nick Spaziano, Nick Glynn, and Higgins have all played key roles. Clinton is an aggressive team: they steal, bunt, and all of the young men have stepped up when called upon.
The 19U Summer Huskies full roster includes Brady Fritz, Joe Giaccone, Ryan Donadio, Declan Christopher, Dave Mantilla, Dominic Carpenter, Lucas Kamoen, Bryan Higgins, Tyler Greenhouse, EJ Quint, Caden Civiello, Nick Spaziano, AJ Fritz, Nick Glynn, and Luis Mendez.
