North Branford Softball Stays Alive in States; Baseball Falls in Second Round
Softball
North Branford softball has had a great states run so far. As the No. 2 seed, they received a bye in the first round. In the second round on May 31, they faced No. 18 Coginchaug and won 5-2. On June 2, the Thunderbirds hosted No. 23 Housatonic in a quarterfinal round matchup and won in 12-0 shutout fashion.
Boys’ Lacrosse
North Branford boys’ lacrosse qualified for the Class S State Tournament as the No. 17 seed. In the qualifying round on May 26, they fell to No. 16 Granby by a score of 7-6.
Baseball
In the first round of the Class S State Tournament on May 30, No. 13 North Branford defeated No. 20 Griswold by a score of 5-1. In the second round the next day, the T-birds faced No. 4 Coventry and fell 10-2.
Girls’ Lacrosse
North Branford girls’ lacrosse qualified for the Class S State Tournament as the No. 12 seed, defeating No. 21 Rocky Hill 14-10 in the qualifying round on May 27. In the first round on May 30, the T-birds were defeated by No. 5 Stonington, 11-6.
