Betty Joan Blount Frink
Betty Joan Blount Frink of Guilford passed away peacefully at her home on May 21 at the age of 96. She was born on Feb. 6, 1927, in Alexandria Bay, New York, the daughter of Stewart Tilton Blount and Arloine Herrick Blount. She had one brother, Edward Blount of Alexandria Bay, New York.
Betty graduated from Alexandria Bay High School and then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Albany, New York. She was a board-certified pharmacist in New York State.
In June 1950, Betty married Robert George Frink of Norwich, New York, where they lived for several years. They had two children, Robert Marc Frink (Christine) of Manhattan, Kansas, and Bobette Ann Frink Schmid (Jeffrey) of Lititz, Pennsylvania. In 1954, the family moved to Sidney, New York. In 1971, the family moved to Guilford, where Betty has lived since then.
While living in Sidney, Betty was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Sidney. For several years, she served as a Cub Scout den mother and as a Girl Scout leader. She was a stay-at-home mother who occasionally filled in as a substitute pharmacist when the local pharmacist was away on vacation.
After settling in Guilford, Betty became an active member of the United Methodist Church in Clinton. For several years, she and a few other women operated the Thrift Mart shop, which was an outreach ministry of the church.
Betty loved cats and antiques and had various collections of items around the house.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother. She is survived by her son and daughter; four grandchildren: Elizabeth Crisler (Jesse) of Wichita, Kansas, Angela Gerena of Manhattan, Kansas, Christopher Schmid of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Jennifer Carson (Vincent) of Willow Street, Pennsylvania; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, May 30, at Alderbrook Cemetery, Guilford. The Hawley Lincoln Memorial, 1315 Boston Post Road, was in charge of arrangements.
