Needed Action is Essential
I want to thank the Chester Governance Study Committee for the report they presented at the Feb. 15 Special Board of Selectmen’s (BOS)meeting held at the Meeting House.
The members of the committee, Pat Bandzes, Briana Jewczyn, Jon Joslow, Cindy Lignar, Richard Strauss, Michael Sanders, and Ed Meehan, did an outstanding job of researching, interviewing other towns, and consolidating the information into an understandable document. The presentation, along with supporting data, can be found on the town website under the Governance Study Committee, "GSC Presentation to BOS 2/15/23." I strongly recommend that all Chester residents review the documents and form an opinion regarding the future structure of our town’s government. This is important and will affect all residents.
It is now at the feet of the BOS to review and engage the town residents through open discussion to determine what form of government is best for Chester. There is a bit of pressure for a response and moving things along with the elections in November and a statement that the entire BoS is not running again. When I asked the First Selectmen for a time frame regarding a response, none was given, and I was told to trust the BOS in moving this project along.
This needed action is essential for the good of everyone in the Town of Chester.
We are waiting and watching.
More to come.
