North Haven Lacrosse Teams to Host Charitable 5K Road Race
On Sunday, March 12, starting at 10 a.m., the high school boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams will stage a 5K charitable road race to benefit the North Haven Youth Lacrosse Club.
The race will begin and end in the north parking lot at the middle school, located off Bailey Road. Race services will be provided by the North Haven Police and Fire departments. Suggested donations for the race are $10 for students and $20 for adults.
The teams will use the event to “kickoff” their upcoming season, which officially begins on Saturday, March 18. “The road race is always a fun team-building event to get our girls ready to start our season. This year we are excited to team up with the boys’ squad for this great community event”, said girls’ Head Coach Bernie Pellegrino.
The three-mile course traverses the neighborhood east of the school complex, across Pool Road, then loops into the “Grove” and returns along the same route back to the school. The course is flat, and parents and friends are encouraged to participate. Many in the past have completed the course as a run/walk.
“All of our kids have benefited so much from the lessons they learned as part of our town’s tremendous youth program. We thought it was important to try to give back to the program by donating the proceeds raised at the event to support youth lacrosse in North Haven” said boys’ Head Coach Justin Blood.
The entire lacrosse community welcomes everyone in town to participate in the road race on March 12.
