H-K Boys’ Basketball, Boys’ and Girls’ Ice Hockey All Split the Week
Boys’ Basketball
Boys’ basketball took a loss at home last week while taking a win on the road. On Feb. 14, the team hosted Cromwell in a 77-42 loss. Andrew Crayton led the way with 18 points on 8-8 free throw shooting. Tate Callender picked up five points, while Blake Kamoen, Tyler Perry, and Jay Evans each had four. Joe Giaccone scored three points in the loss, and Declan Moriarty and Cody Robinson added two points each.
They took to the road on Feb. 16 to take on Metropolitan Learning Center and snagged a 58-47 victory. Tate Callender and Andrew Crayton scored 14 points each. Callender also recorded eight steals, and Crayton had seven rebounds and six steals. Jay Evans added 12 points for the Cougars. Blake Kamoen recorded a double-double, scoring 10 points to go along with 10 rebounds, and Ryan Erskine added six points. Joe Giaccone contributed two points. The team is 6-12 for the season.
Boys’ Ice Hockey
The Rocky Hill boys’ ice hockey co-op split the week, posting a win at on the road and a loss at home. On Feb. 15, the team traveled to West Hartford to face Hall in a 4-3 victory. They returned home on Feb. 18 for a 4-0 loss at the hands of the Newington co-op. The team is 5-13 for the season.
Girls’ Basketball
Cougars girls’ basketball ended the regular season with a 10-10 record after falling in their final game of the season. They traveled to Cromwell on Feb. 14 and were defeated 54-47 in overtime. They entered postseason play, facing East Hampton on Feb. 18 in the Shoreline Athletic Conference playoffs and fell 63-41 in the quarterfinal game.
Girls’ Ice Hockey
The Hand girls’ ice hockey co-op split the final week of regular season play, recording a win on the road and a loss at home. The team hit the road to face Amity-Cheshire-North Haven on Feb. 15 in a 7-4 victory, and they returned home on Feb. 18 to host Wilton/Norwalk/McMahon in a 7-4 loss. The team ended the regular season 11-7. They entered the SCC playoffs as the fourth-ranked team.
Wrestling
The wrestling team competed at the Class S State Championship on Feb. 17-18, taking fourth place as a team with 165 total points.
