A Tough Day for Used Books
Moving day for two PODS units packed full of books, DVDs, and CDs destined for the Friends of the Scranton Library at Academy School met with an unpleasant obstacle on Tuesday morning as they were leaving the Wall Street collection office. When the PODS were lifted on the flatbed, the wheel of the truck sank into an aged cesspool (dried up, luckily). With the help of a towing company the truck was removed from the sinkhole, finally delivering its cargo for sorting for the used book sale held Friday, July 30 through Sunday, Aug. 1 during the Madison Sidewalk Sales. Seashore Construction Company came to the rescue, repairing the hole that became bigger as debris was removed and then filling it in. For more info, call Carol Robinson 203-245-2054 or 203-506-6672.
