Betty Burke Page, 76, Guilford
Betty Burke Page, 76, a life-time resident of Goose Lane, Guilford, died unexpectedly at Middlesex Hospital on April 19. She was the wife of over 50 years to the love of her life, the late Raymond Francis Page. She was born on June 29, 1935, daughter of the late Milton Ezra Burke and Dorothy Hathaway Burke. A graduate of Guilford High School, Betty worked for the Guilford Board of Education for 35 years as Library Media chairperson, K -12, overseeing each library throughout the Guilford School System. She was very proud to have grown the high school library from a single classroom with a number of books to a dedicated library containing over 100,000 volumes.
She is survived by her loving sister, Evelyn Burke Stender of Durham and family; her son, Timothy Burke Page; her daughter, Dawn Louise Page; a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Page; and three granddaughters, Torrie Lynn Page of Guilford and Tara and Tiffanie of New Hampshire. In addition, she is survived by her friend and caregiver, Kim Dietel, and a host of grand-animals. She was predeceased by her big brother, Bob (Robert) Hathaway.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 25, at 11 a.m., at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St. Guilford. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 24, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will take place privately.
