Celebrate Last Night
As 2013 sets sail and we get ready to welcome in the New Year, the Clinton 350th Anniversary Committee has planned a final event to unite the town. On Saturday, Dec. 28, from 7 to 11:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, the Committee has planned the “Last Night” celebration. Tickets are $10 a head and guests are asked to BYOB and BYO snacks.
The event, which has been designed as a very special gathering for everyone in town, will include music by Booby G. a professionally lit and decorated atmosphere and replicated Casino Room. Are you feeling lucky? This “Last Night” event culminates the year long, town wide anniversary celebration which was a huge success.
According to John Allen, public relations for the Committee, every event the Committee has held from, “The Launch” event in February, which was held in the Andrews Memorial Auditorium and was sold out, to the May History in Motion event, which involved residents walking and bicycling through Main Street and of course the hugely successful weekend long Heritage Days event, which was celebrated by the entire town and included the grand Heritage Day parade, and the most recent fall event, “Community Spirit Day,” with the Spooks Parade, pumpkin chunkin and a sunset bonfire, have all been widely successful, with great attendance, lots of goodwill and a real sense of community. They have all promoted a unified town spirit, and highlighted the long and storied history of Clinton.
“We are encouraging everyone to come out to this final event,” said Allen. This is the last “official” celebration of the 350
th
Anniversary and one more chance for everyone to get together and remember what a wonderful town we live in, and what a great community of friends and neighbors we have.”
He added, “It was kind of the epiphany of the year that we really realized through all these events and all the good times we had, that we all do really get along here in Clinton, and we hope to celebrate that every year, not just when an anniversary comes along.”
Allen explained that the Committee has done a lot of hard work throughout 2013 and holding this last event is bittersweet in many ways, “We all worked hard, and we kept it together and I think we all did a great job. We will miss the Committee, but most of us will continue working within the town on other committees and boards, so we will still be involved.”
This final “Last Night” event is a great way to send out the 350
th
Anniversary of Clinton. It will be a great party for a great year. Tickets for this event can be purchased at the 350
th
Committee Headquarters on Route 1, or from a Committee member. For more information go to www.clinton350.org.
