Ethel is 11 years old and is an easygoing and quiet girl who loves to go for walks and lay by the woodstove. She is good with all other dogs and everyone she meets, though her ideal home would not have little kids. She is trained to invisible fence and will sit for cookies or anything she thinks may possibly be food.
Fred, also 11 and from the same litter as Ethel, came to DRPS with Ethel in February 2014 as their mom had gotten divorced and had to move where she could only have one dog. Fred loves to sleep in his crate (door open or closed) and often asks to go in if the door is closed. He is easygoing and quiet, and gets along with most other dogs. Fred is also trained to invisible fence.
Gretel was returned for biting visitors, but DRPS has had zero issue with her since she has been back. She was not properly socialized or trained and will need a strictly structured home life until she understands how she is to interact with her fellow “pack members.” Gretel is a three-year-old spayed miniature (10-pound) red, smooth female. She is an “under the covers” doxie and will burrow into wherever she is. She is good with cats and other dogs.
Lady is a beautiful five-year-old black and tan dapple longhair female. She was living in a car with her owner, and currently has slight cherry eyes and hair loss on her tail due to poor food and anxiety. Lady was extremely nervous when DRPS first got her and would not allow them to handle her for the first few days, but she has come a long way very quickly and is a sweet girl. She will need someone who is patient with her and can provide a quiet and loving home. She's good with all of the other dogs at DRPS.
Nathan was born in November of 2007. He is a 13-pound, neutered male. He is microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines. He is a loving, cuddly guy, housebroken and trained to sit, stay, wait, and come. He walks well on leash and is crate-trained and likes it as his bed of choice.
Romeo is a little black and tan longhair Dachshund boy who is around three years old. He has had all his shots and is neutered. He will need a firm owner who is experienced with the breed to teach him the ropes. He is a very happy and smart dog. He just needs some structure and positive stimulation after being in the shelter almost two months; he learned “sit” within minutes. He is called Romeo because he is so cute and he really loves some of the staff at DRPS. He is good with other dogs (but not cats) and ready to go.
