James F. Savo, Jr.
James F. Savo, Jr, 96, of North Haven, passed away on Feb. 1 at his home. He was the beloved husband of 73 years to Diana C. Massari Savo. James was born in New Haven on Aug. 20, 1926, the son of the late James F. Savo, Sr. and Mary Sangiovanni Savo.
He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during World War II. James worked for the United Illuminating Company for 38 years until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the AMVETS Post #9 and the Pine Grove Men’s Club Association. An avid duckpin bowler, James was a member of many different bowling leagues and also enjoyed playing golf.
Father of Cynthia Lawlor and Dyann Vissicchio; grandfather of Alyssa and Melinda Vissicchio, Colleen Farley (Chris), Matthew Lawlor (Sarah), and Timothy Lawlor (Jordan); great-grandfather of James Francis Lawlor, Harper and Regan Farley; and brother-in-law of Rose Savo. Predeceased by brothers Anthony and Domenic Savo and a sister Ann Lawrence.
The visiting hours were on Feb. 6, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven. Interment with full military honors followed in All Saints Cemetery.
