East Haven Boys’ Hoops Takes OT Defeat to Branford; Girls’ Basketball Drops Two Contests
Girls’ Ice Hockey
Girl’s ice hockey split the week, taking a win on the road and a loss at home. In its game on
Jan. 23 against Fairfield Ludlowe/Warde, the Guilford girls’ ice hockey co-op took a 4-2 win on the road. The team hosted the Hamden co-op on Jan. 26, falling in an 0-2 loss. Now 5-8 on the season, they take the ice again on Saturday, Feb. 4, at home against the Masuk Co-op.
Girls’ Basketball
It was a tough week for the girls’ basketball team, posting back-to-back losses. The team hosted Sacred Heart Academy on Jan. 24 in a 61-27 conference loss. They traveled to Milford to square up against Lauralton Hall in a non-conference game, taking a 53-63 defeat. The Yellowjackets sit at 10-5 overall. Next up, the Yellowjackets host West Haven on Jan. 31 (after press time) and will take on Amity Regional High School on the road on Friday, Feb. 3.
Boys’ Basketball
The Yellowjackets hosted Branford for a non-conference battle on Jan. 27, falling to the visitors 66-67 in overtime. The team stands at 4-8 on the season. They travel to take on Hamden on Jan. 31 (after press time) and will host Hillhouse on Friday, Feb. 3.
