Nighthawks Boys’ Hockey Keeps Undefeated Streak Alive
On Jan. 11, the North Haven boys’ hockey team hosted the Woodstock Academy Centaurs in a battle of unbeaten Division 2 teams. The Centaurs got on the board first at 7:20 of the first to take a 1-0 lead. At 11:36 of the first, Alex Petersen tied the game at 1-1, with assists going to Jake Donovan and Tommy Guidone.
At 12:49 of the first period, Tommy Guidone gave the Nighthawks a lead they would never relinquish, as he put North Haven up 2-1 with assists going to Nolan Cole and Alex Petersen. North Haven extended their lead to 3-1 as Alex Petersen picked up his second goal of the game, on assists from Will Sullivan and Tommy Guidone, at 12:32 of the second period.
In the third period, Owen Quick made it 4-1 at 4:10 with Connor Keaney and Andre Ohanyan picking up the assists. Bryce Mastriano closed out the scoring at 10:44 of the contest, with assists being credited to Nolan Cole and Bryce Montabana, as North Haven picked up a convincing 5-1 victory. Bryce Petersen recorded his 7th win of the season in net for North Haven.
On Jan. 14, the Nighthawks played host to the Green Dragons of Hamden in an SCC border battle. Will Sullivan made it 1-0 early for North Haven on an unassisted goal. In the second period, Tommy Guidone made it 2-0 North Haven, with Jake Donovan on the assist, at 4:39.
North Haven extended their lead to 3-0, as Owen Quick scored on a laser that beat the Hamden netminder at 12:56 of the second period, with Will Sullivan on the assist. Hamden scored two late second period goals to cut the lead to 3-2.
33 seconds into the third period, Will Sullivan scored, with Joey Taft and Owen Quick on the assists, to ultimately put the game away. North Haven defeated Hamden 4-2 to run their record to 8-0 on the season. Bryce Petersen stayed undefeated in net for the Nighthawks.
