Craig Shaw LeMay
Craig Shaw LeMay, 64, died at home in East Dover, Vermont, on Nov. 15. Son of the late Anne C. (Shaw) and Harold E. LeMay, Craig grew up in Chester and attended Valley Regional High School in Deep River. Following school, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Naval Hospital Corps aboard the USS Nimitz, lead ship of the U.S. Navy’s Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.
Craig always enjoyed board games and excelled at chess. A year-round outdoorsman who loved nature, he was an exceptional ice skater and rollerblader. His deepest passion was music, and he had a natural talent for the guitar, piano, and drums. He and his former wife Bonnie lived in East Haddam and spent most winters at their home in Vermont. They were avid and expert skiers who gave lessons at Mount Snow for many years.
Craig is survived by his brother John (Lisa) of Sandgate, Vermont; his sister Leslie (Howard Tunick) of Essex; nephews, Evan Bargnesi (Nira) and Adam LeMay; niece, Emma LeMay; grandniece Samara Bargnesi; and his dear friend, Bonnie LeMay.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Craig’s memory may be sent to the East Dover Fire Department, 22 Dover Hill Rd, East Dover, VT 05341, or the Dover Free Library, 22 Holland Rd Suite 1, Dover, VT 05341.
