Gary J. Weymer
Gary J. Weymer, 73, of Stratham, New Hampshire, formerly of Watertown, Centerbrook and Chester, died peacefully Dec. 29, after a long, hard fight with multiple medical issues.
He was the loving husband of Lynn Cuneo Weymer; father of Hillary Weymer Gaynor, his son-in law-Jamie Gaynor and his granddaughters who were the world to him, Abigail and Mollie Gaynor, all of Stratham, New Hampshire.
He was the former owner, with Lynn, of the Robinson, Wright and Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook, for 26 years, and had been a funeral director there for 35 years. Gary was active in many civic organizations over the years: Essex Rotary where he was a past President and Paul Fellow recipient as well as Exchange Club. Gary was a proud volunteer firefighter for 50 years, a 37-year member of the Essex Fire Engine Company No. 1, a six-year member of the Chester Hose Company and most recently with the Stratham Volunteer Fire Department. His most cherished and prized accomplishment in life was his role as “Popi” to his adoring grandchildren. He is fondly remembered watching and cheering from the sidelines as the number one fan of his daughter and granddaughters.
Gary also leaves behind his sisters: Beth Ann Rossi, Marilyn Banche, Kathy McNamee and Jeanne Weymer; along with his incredible nieces and nephews. Gary was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Donna Weymer; and sister Sharon.
Service with Last Call will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Essex Fire Engine Company #1, with the Reverend Timothy Haut.
