Thank You!
Thank you to the many volunteers who made Old Saybrook’s first-ever 'National Wreath Across America Day' on Dec. 17 such an overwhelming success. The tremendous outpouring of generosity from all those who sponsored wreaths – including the very generous donor who purchased 450 wreaths – helped us reach our impressive goal of 700 remembrance wreaths to be placed on veterans’ graves at our Old Saybrook cemeteries. We also want to thank the members of the Old Saybrook Fire Department for their time and assistance.
Thank you, as well, to the eight volunteers who laid wreaths during our National Wreaths Across America Day ceremony on our Town Green: U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran Al Johnson, Jr.; U.S. Navy Veteran and OSFD Firefighter Rich Mulvihill, Sr; U.S.M.C. Veteran Scott Carson; U.S.A.F. Vietnam Veteran Robert Arcone; Claire Mariani, U.S.A.F.; OSFD Veteran Rebecca Lucas; Erin Colwell, wife of U.S. Merchant Marine Matt Colwell and OSFD Firefighter; and U.S.A.F. Veteran and OSFD Veteran James Rankin.
We also wish to thank OSHS singer Cayden Ratineri for her impressive performance of our National Anthem and God Bless America and the Shoreline Church in Old Lyme and Larry Bonin, Dave Colquhoun and J.J. Dibble of Old Saybrook for their valued assistance. Finally, thank you to the Parthenon Diner, Mirsina's, Sal's Pizza and Pasta, Saybrook Pizza, Luigi’s Restaurant, Pizza Palace, and TJ's Restaurant for their donated lunches for our volunteers. And a big thank you to Wal-Mart of Old Saybrook for their donated water and soda.
