Vincent J. Maiocco
Vincent J. Maiocco, 93, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Dec. 13 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Frances A. Ferraro Maiocco. Vincent was born in Bridgeport on Sept. 13, 1929, son of the late John and Jennie Pilgoste Maiocco.
He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean war and was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1954. Vincent earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Bridgeport, had worked as an accountant for many years with Columbia Records in New York City and later was the President of the CT Student Loan Foundation until his retirement. An avid golfer, Vincent was a member of the Farms Country Club, Wallingford, where he once hit a hole-in-one. He enjoyed singing, painting, playing his trumpet, fishing and was a UConn Men’s and Women’s basketball fan. His family was his everything, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loved his family unconditionally.
Loving father of Bunny (Fran) Lynch, Sue (Mike) Zurlis, John (Bev) Maiocco, Rich (Troy) Maiocco, Corky (Bob) Jermine, Patti (Doug) Carman, Chris (Michelle Mele) Maiocco and Janet (Santino) Calabro. Brother of Dr. Kenneth (Maxine) Maiocco, the late Angela (Louis) Cappucci and the late Honorable John P. Maiocco. Brother-in-law of Claire Maiocco. Also survived by 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Predeceased by his grandson Gregory J. Zurlis. Vincent will be truly missed.
The visiting hours were on Dec. 18, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends were invited to go directly to St. Paul VI Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Avenue, Hamden on Dec. 19, to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in the North Haven Center Cemetery with full military honors.
