Edward J. McManus
Edward J. “Ed” McManus, 98, of Hamden, formerly of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Nov. 22 at his home. He was the beloved husband of 69 years to the late Lucy D’Alessio McManus. Edward was born in Killingly, on Sept. 18, 1924, and was the son of the late Andrew J. and Alice Stone McManus. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Edward had a long career in the Graphic Arts industry as a lithographic ink expert having worked for National Folding Box (Federal Paper Board) from 1947 to 1961, BASF Inmont from 1961 to 1974, and Sun Chemical Corp. from 1974 until his retirement in 1991.
He was the father of Edward (Kathleen) McManus and Robert (Michele) McManus; loving “Poppy” to Melissa (James) Greenwood, Michael and Ashley McManus; and to his great-grandson Luke Greenwood. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Mary McManus Kryzminski (John), Francis (Frank) McManus, Richard McManus (Ann), Anne McManus Decresenzo, Andrew McManus (Dorothy) Raymond McManus (Harriet), and Shirley McManus Forbes (Robert).
The McManus family would like to extend a “Special Thank You” to the nurses and staff at Benchmark Senior Living “for the excellent care and compassion” provided Ed the past two and a half years.
The visiting hours were on Nov. 29, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A graveside funeral service followed in All Saints Cemetery.
