Guilford Issues an Update on Sandy Recovery
Emergency Center is in full operation at the Fire Department.
Power Service and Restoration:
Progress continues to me made concerning the restoration of electrical power.
As of this morning, C L & P is reporting restoration of 49% of Guilford has occurred.
Be advised, priority direction was given to C L & P to ensure CRITICAL Sites were restored. Priorities include;
Yale New Haven Medical Center
Town Police and Fire Protection Operations
Emergency Shelter (Community Center)
Convalescent Homes and Elderly Housing
All Guilford Public Schools (2 yet to be completed)
Town Hall
As these locations become restored, many residences and businesses are restored as well.
Rest assured, major focus is restoring the balance of Guilford . Restoration crews are in the north and south sections of town presently. Additional crews are expected from C L & P starting this afternoon.
Community Center:
The Community Center has been OPEN all week as an Emergency Shelter.
It will remain OPEN over the weekend.
For those needing it, breakfast, lunch and dinner is being provided.
Charging stations are available for electronic devices.
A limited number of shower facilities are available.
Emergency Overnight facilities are available.
If you plan to stay overnight ,
• Bring along the proper linens, blankets/pillows, and shower support.
• Bring toiletries and medications.
• Hand written phone numbers of family and friends
• If you bring Animals, they must be in crates. Bring food and medications for animals enough for 3 to 5 day

Power Stations are available to recharge cell phones. Wireless Internet is available as well.
Town Hall South and Youth and Family Services are OPEN as well
Guilford Library:
Is OPEN and operating under power, providing all of their normal services. Feel frre to stop in to re-charge cell phones and use computers and the internet. Hours of operation through the weekend are;
Friday 9AM to 6PM
Saturday 9AM to 5PM
Sunday 1PM to 4PM
Guilford Public Schools:
GPS will be CLOSED agin today, FRIDAY.

Voting locations for Tuesday, Nov 6, 2012:
We are planning for the normal locations to be OPEN and operational, including the following School locations of; Cox, Leete, Baldwin and Jones, and the Main Fire Department building.
Branford YMCA:
Facility is OPEN with power and they are offering showers, charging stations and wifi services FREE of Charge.
Businesses and Food Services:
MANY are now open along Rt. 1, EAST of River Street to Madison. Additional locations are opening on the West side
of Rt. 1
Several businesses are operating around the Green, some with full power, several using generators.
On the West Side of Town, Bishop’s Orchard’s is OPEN for Water distribution and for many of their other services.

Water is available to be picked up by residents, bring your own containers to;

North Guilford Fire House
Community Center
Bishop’s Orchards
Guilford Lakes Golf Course
Some residents have inquired of the Health Director about the safety of the City Water supply, and he has advised it should be fine to drink and use.
Waste Management:
These facilities are OPEN to the public. FEES are being waived through the weekend.
The Town Transfer Station is OPEN today to handle spoiled food and other waste. It will be OPEN on Saturday from 8AM to 3:30PM. It MAY be open on Sunday. Call to confirm
The Stump Dump is OPEN today for tree and limb debris. It will be OPEN on Saturday and Sunday from 8AM to 3:30PM.
SAFETY REMINDER – GENERATOR Operation / Other:
Please remember to only operate generators outdoors, well clear of enclosed spaces, including enclosed garages.
A minimum of 20’ should be maintained from enclosed spaces so Carbon Monoxide gas will not get trapped inside homes or businesses. Many issues are being reported to the Fire Department.
Be especially careful with Propane Tanks, and extinguishing candles before going to bed.
Be careful approaching Traffic Intersections where power has not been restored. Stop, Look, Proceed with Caution.
