Atlantic Wharf Delay: Hearing Continued to Dec. 3
While the Atlantic Wharf public hearing officially opened on Nov. 5, no information was shared by the applicant and no public comments were made; due to applicant Milford-based Metro Star’s request for more time to review “a number of technical comments” on the plan, said Planning & Zoning Commission (PZC) Chair Chuck Andres.
The hearing has been continued to the Thursday, Dec. 3 PZC meeting.
Andres announced Metro Star’s request for a delay at the opening of the public hearing at the PZC meeting on Nov. 5. Andres told a small group of audience members that any wishing to do so could comment on the plan, but that they may want to wait until the continuation of the public hearing on Dec. 3, when the applicant would be present. No public comments were entered into the record on Nov. 5.
Andres explained the delay was requested by Metro Star because “there are a number of engineering comments, traffic comments, and so forth that I understand that the applicant wanted to address more fully, and so has requested that the matter be continued.”
The Dec. 3 Atlantic Wharf public hearing is set to take place during the PZC’s regular meeting, set for 7 p.m. at Canoe Brook Senior Center. Andres noted the applicant has also granted a 65-day extension to the public hearing period.
The master plan for Atlantic Wharf won the unanimous backing of the Planning & Zoning Commission on Feb. 5, paving the way for a detailed site plan to be submitted for review. Atlantic Wharf will bring a complex of 10, three-story buildings to the site of the former Atlantic Wire Factory, which will be razed.
